Sensible Sales Shopping

Once upon a time, there were generally sales at certain periods of time. End of season sales and Christmas.

Fast forward to present day, and there always seems to be a reason for a sale. Competition on the high street is fierce, fighting for survival and online shopping has made it so easy to shop 24/7. Then there's what is known as fast fashion. Trends seem to be constantly changing and clothes are now made in such volumes the retailers need to get rid of them to make room for the next trend. Some retailers welcome up to 50 mini collections every year. It's hard not to be tempted. But when is a bargain not a bargain?

We've probably all been guilty of buying something in the sale with nothing being the driver behind that decision, apart from the fact that it's cheap or a lot cheaper than it was. It then becomes an item amongst the estimated £10bn worth of clothes sitting in wardrobes unworn just in this country alone.

Things to consider before buying a bargain:

Do you need it?

Is it in your colours and style?

Does it work with what is currently in your wardrobe?

Is it a trend or a timeless piece that will last?

Don't get me wrong. There are some great bargains to be had in the sales. Most importantly, buy less but buy better.
